Company Finance Summary Tab

The Summary tab on Company Finance is the master record for a customer's billing setup in ConnectWise PSA — bill-to, invoice template, currency, delivery.

The Summary tab on the Company Finance screen is the master billing record for a customer in ConnectWise PSA. The Account ID, Billing Contact, and Invoice Template fields here flow through to every invoice generated for this company — no invoice can close without an Account ID set.

To access it, go to Finance > Company Finance and select a company.

Company pod

FieldDescription
CompanyThe company name. Select the link to open the Company record.
TypeThe Company Type, defined in the Company Type Setup Table.
StatusThe company status. Change it here, not on the Company screen. Statuses can fire pop-up notifications (for example, credit hold notices) defined in the Company Status Setup Table.
Company IDUnique identifier. Letters, numbers, spaces, and + only. 30-character limit.
Phone, Fax, Web SiteDefault contact details.

Note: If a status has a custom pop-up note, selecting Don’t show this message again silences it for 24 hours or until cache clears.

Bill To pod

Who the invoice actually goes to — often different from the company you’re doing work for.

FieldDescription
Bill ToThe company that receives invoices. Can be overridden on agreements, projects, tickets, and individual invoices.
Billing SiteBilling address. Multiple sites are defined on the company’s Sites tab.
ContactBilling contact. Appears in the Attention field on invoices. Must belong to the Bill To company, and must have an email if delivery is set to email.
Title, Phone, Email, TypePulled from the billing contact record.
RelationshipDefined in the Contact Relationship Setup Table.

Note: Changing the Contact field updates the company’s Contacts tab. If records are already queued to bill under the old contact, the Update Billing Contact dialog appears on save.

Reassign unbilled records to a new billing contact

  1. In the Bill To pod, open the Contact picker and select the new billing contact.
  2. Select Save. The Update Billing Contact dialog appears if records are queued under the old contact.
  3. Select which entries to reassign from the old to the new contact.
  4. Select Save.

Finance Details pod

Email TemplateDefault email template used when sending invoices. Defined in the Email Formats Setup Table.
Pricing ScheduleDefined in the Pricing Schedules Setup Table.
CurrencyOverrides all other currency settings for this customer’s invoicing. Falls back to the Location’s currency if blank.

How the Invoice Template resolves for agreement invoices

The Invoice Template field on Summary only governs Standard Invoices. Agreement invoices follow this precedence (most specific wins):

  1. The Agreement tab template
  2. The Agreement Type template
  3. The Billing Setup Table Agreement Template
  4. The overall invoice default

The Invoice Template field determines which PDF renders for this company’s Standard Invoices. Point it at a Better Invoice custom template to get branded, pixel-controlled output per company — no Report Writer, no HTML editing.

Invoice Delivery Options pod

FieldDescription
Delivery MethodDefault method for sending invoices. Options come from the Delivery Method Setup Table. If set to email, new invoices automatically queue to the Invoice Batch Emailing Screen.
ToBilling contact’s email address.
CCAdditional contacts to copy on batch-emailed invoices. Separate multiple addresses with semicolons. Each address must belong to a contact in PSA.

Note: You can’t change Delivery Method on an invoice after it’s created. You can, however, toggle Add invoice to the batch email list to force an invoice into the batch queue.

Tip: For a company that’s both a vendor and a client, create a custom Company Type (for example, “Customer/Vendor”), set Account to the accounting package’s company name, and set Vendor Xref to the vendor name.
